SORT AARHUS

Learn More About SORT AARHUS

There are brands that follow trends, and there are brands that know exactly who they are. SORT AARHUS falls firmly into the second category.

Founded by Sofie Svenninggaard, the Danish label is first and foremost a footwear brand, created as the next generation of LOFINA, the family business established by Sofie's parents. Building on decades of craftsmanship, SORT AARHUS works with the same Italian leather and trusted manufacturers that have defined LOFINA's reputation for exceptional quality. Sofie has taken that foundation and introduced a fresh perspective, bringing a more contemporary, fashion-forward edge to the silhouettes while preserving the comfort and craftsmanship that have always been at the heart of the family's work.

Alongside its footwear, the brand offers a carefully considered clothing collection that feels like a natural extension of its design philosophy. The collections are clean and understated, though never cold. There is always something interesting happening in the silhouette, the texture, or the way pieces are layered together.

At House of Valerie, SORT AARHUS appeals to women who appreciate clothing and footwear with purpose. Nothing feels excessive or overdesigned. Instead, the focus remains on shape, material, and pieces that earn their place in a wardrobe over time. It is a collection built around thoughtful design rather than passing trends, which is exactly why we continue to return to it season after season.

Rooted In Danish Design

Few fashion brands begin with footwear, yet that story sits at the heart of SORT AARHUS.

Before the clothing collection existed, there was Lofina, the Danish footwear company founded by Lise-Lotte and Morten Svenninggaard. For decades, the family built a reputation for creating shoes that combined comfort, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Growing up within that world gave Sofie Svenninggaard a unique understanding of how people actually wear clothes and shoes day to day.

When SORT AARHUS launched in 2021, it felt less like a new fashion brand and more like a natural extension of that philosophy. The footwear remained central, though now it sat alongside clothing designed with the same attention to quality, proportion, and longevity.

Designed in Denmark and produced by carefully selected European manufacturers, the collections carry a distinctly Scandinavian point of view. There is simplicity, though never at the expense of personality. The silhouettes are clean, the palette is restrained, and every piece feels considered without becoming complicated.

What we find particularly refreshing about SORT AARHUS is that it never appears to be chasing anything. The collections feel self-assured and consistent, allowing women to build wardrobes around pieces that remain relevant long after a season has passed.

The Boots That Define SORT AARHUS

The footwear has become one of the most recognisable parts of the brand, not because it follows fashion trends, but because it has such a clear identity. Soft stretch leather, sculptural soles, and beautifully balanced proportions create boots that feel distinctive from the moment you put them on.

At House of Valerie, the footwear is often where a customer's relationship with the brand begins. A pair of boots catches their eye, they try them on, and before long they find themselves exploring the wider collection. It makes perfect sense because the same design language runs throughout everything SORT AARHUS creates.

Among the collection, one style has become something of a signature for us: the stretch leather knee-high boot. Every autumn and winter, it is one of our most sought-after designs, not simply because of its understated aesthetic, but because it solves a genuine wardrobe challenge for so many women. Customers with wider or more athletic calves often struggle to find long boots that fit comfortably without compromising on style. The supple stretch leather offers an elegant solution, moulding to the leg while retaining the clean silhouette the brand is known for. For many women, it is the first long boot they have found that truly fits, opening up the possibility of wearing dresses and skirts throughout the colder months with confidence.

What we particularly love is the balance the footwear achieves. The designs have presence, though never feel overpowering. They are contemporary without looking overly fashion-led and practical without feeling ordinary.

Like all truly great footwear, the boots become better with wear. The leather softens, the shape becomes familiar, and they gradually become part of the wardrobe rather than simply another purchase. That sense of longevity feels very much in keeping with the wider philosophy of the brand.

Soft Structure & Everyday Layers

SORT AARHUS has a way of making black feel anything but basic.

Much of the collection is built around darker tones, from charcoal and slate to deep olive and washed black. Rather than feeling severe, these colours create depth and allow texture, silhouette, and layering to become the focus.

There is often a subtle tension within the styling that makes the collections so appealing. A structured jacket worn with relaxed trousers. Soft knitwear paired with heavier leather footwear. Cleaner lines balanced against more generous proportions. Nothing feels forced, though everything feels intentional.

Material plays an equally important role. Stretch leather and suede have become signatures of the brand, whilst merino wool, organic cotton, and soft viscose blends bring warmth and comfort to the clothing. Fabrics are chosen for how they feel, how they move, and how they wear over time.

Perhaps that is why the collections feel so enduring. They offer a fresh perspective on contemporary dressing whilst remaining remarkably wearable.

SORT AARHUS at House of Valerie

What we love most about SORT AARHUS is that it never feels like it is trying too hard.

The collections are confident without being loud, contemporary without becoming trend-driven, and distinctive without relying on obvious statement pieces. There is a clarity to the design that feels increasingly rare, where every element serves a purpose and nothing feels unnecessary.

We also appreciate the connection between the clothing and footwear. Very few brands create such a cohesive world, where the boots, knitwear, jackets, and trousers feel as though they genuinely belong together. That consistency gives the collection a strong identity whilst still leaving room for personal styling.

For women who appreciate quality materials, thoughtful design, and clothing that works beyond a single season, SORT AARHUS continues to be one of the most compelling collections within our designer edit.
