RUNDHOLZ

Learn More About RUNDHOLZ

Few designers approach shape and texture quite like RUNDHOLZ. Since founding the label in Germany in 1993, Carsten and Lenka Rundholz have created a distinctive world shaped by oversized silhouettes, layered proportions, and heavily treated fabrics that are expressive without losing wearability.

The collections move instinctively rather than formally. Garments often appear slightly undone, textured, or imperfect in a way that gives them depth and individuality. Fabrics are washed, overdyed, crackled, and layered to create pieces that feel personal rather than polished. This rawness has become one of the defining characteristics of the brand.

At House of Valerie, RUNDHOLZ has become a longstanding part of our designer edit because it offers something entirely individual within contemporary fashion. The collections combine creativity with comfort, allowing women to dress with freedom and confidence whilst building wardrobes that feel deeply personal.

The Story Behind RUNDHOLZ

RUNDHOLZ was founded by Carsten and Lenka Rundholz with a vision that sat outside conventional luxury fashion from the beginning. Rather than focusing on traditional tailoring or trend-led collections, the brand developed its own design language centred around proportion, texture and experimentation.

The early collections quickly gained attention for their sculptural silhouettes and unconventional styling. Oversized outerwear, cocoon shapes, drop-crotch trousers, and layered fabrics became signatures of the label, giving RUNDHOLZ a recognisable identity that continues to evolve today.

What makes the brand particularly distinctive is the instinctive way the collections are developed. Nothing feels overly constructed or heavily styled for effect. The garments have movement and personality, allowing the clothing to change once worn rather than remaining static. This creates collections that feel expressive whilst still functioning naturally within everyday wardrobes.

Every RUNDHOLZ collection is designed in Germany, where the creative studio develops each silhouette and textile concept. Production takes place primarily within Europe, particularly in Poland, using specialist manufacturers selected for their craftsmanship and technical expertise. Some knitwear and jersey pieces are also produced within specialist factories in China, each created to the same standard of quality and construction.

Over time, RUNDHOLZ has expanded into three distinct collections: MAINLINE, DIP, and BLACK LABEL. Each line offers a different interpretation of the brand whilst remaining connected through the same artistic identity.

MAINLINE, DIP & BLACK LABEL

At House of Valerie, we bring together the full RUNDHOLZ world across MAINLINE, DIP, and BLACK LABEL, allowing you to explore the different moods and aesthetics within the brand.

RUNDHOLZ MAINLINE is the most conceptual collection. Sculptural tailoring, oversized proportions, and highly developed fabrics define the line, creating pieces that feel bold and architectural without becoming rigid. MAINLINE often pushes silhouette further, exploring volume and layering in a way that feels expressive and artistic.

RUNDHOLZ DIP takes a more raw and experimental direction. The collection is recognised for overdyed fabrics, crackled textures, distressed finishes, and heavily treated surfaces that give garments depth and individuality. DIP pieces often feel lived in from the beginning, which adds to the character and wearability of the collection.

BLACK LABEL offers a softer and more relaxed interpretation of the RUNDHOLZ aesthetic. Fluid jersey, easy layering pieces, relaxed trousers, and everyday outerwear make the collection particularly versatile whilst still retaining the recognisable RUNDHOLZ silhouette.

Together, the three collections create wardrobes that are layered, expressive, and highly individual. Oversized coats can sit effortlessly alongside relaxed jersey or textured DIP pieces, allowing women to mix proportions and fabrics in a personal way.

At House of Valerie, we style each collection on its own terms, but we also believe the real strength of RUNDHOLZ lies in how the lines work together. MAINLINE tailoring can be paired with BLACK LABEL jersey, while DIP's textured finishes add depth and contrast to more refined pieces. We regularly mix collections, silhouettes, and price points because we understand that this is how modern wardrobes are built — thoughtfully, gradually, and with individuality at the centre. Rather than dressing head-to-toe from a single line, many women prefer to combine statement pieces with everyday favourites, creating looks that feel personal, versatile, and authentic to their own style.

To see the collections in motion, you can watch our live fashion shows throughout the week, streamed on Instagram, Facebook and the House of Valerie app from Tuesday to Friday. Unlike traditional fashion presentations, our live shows feature real women of different ages, shapes, sizes and personal styles, allowing you to see how the collections work on a variety of figures and how individual pieces can be styled in different ways. It's an invaluable way to understand fit, proportion and layering before making a purchase.

For a more personal experience, we also invite you to visit our flagship store, where our experienced styling team can help you explore the collections, build outfits across the different RUNDHOLZ lines, and discover combinations that work for your lifestyle, wardrobe and individual sense of style.

Signature Style & Design Philosophy

RUNDHOLZ has never followed traditional ideas of dressing. The collections encourage a more personal approach, where clothing is worn instinctively rather than styled to perfection. Pieces are often mixed across seasons and collections, creating wardrobes that evolve gradually over time.

Many women are drawn to RUNDHOLZ because the clothing feels individual from the moment it is worn. Fabrics soften, colours develop depth, and shapes change slightly depending on how garments are layered and styled. This gives the collections a lived-in quality that feels very different from more polished luxury fashion.

There is also a sense of unpredictability within the brand. A simple jersey dress may sit alongside heavily textured outerwear or overdyed leather, allowing each collection to feel slightly unexpected whilst still remaining cohesive. This balance between experimentation and wearability has become central to the RUNDHOLZ identity.

At House of Valerie, customers often return to RUNDHOLZ season after season because the collections integrate naturally with pieces they already own. The clothing does not feel tied to a single moment or trend, which gives it longevity both stylistically and practically.

RUNDHOLZ at House of Valerie

At House of Valerie, we are continually drawn to designers with a strong visual identity, and RUNDHOLZ remains one of the most distinctive within contemporary womenswear. The collections bring together craftsmanship, texture, and individuality in a way that is expressive without becoming inaccessible.

We particularly appreciate the versatility across MAINLINE, DIP, and BLACK LABEL. Together, the collections allow women to build wardrobes that feel layered and personal rather than overly styled. Pieces can be worn casually or more directionally depending on how they are combined, which gives the collections longevity beyond a single season.

RUNDHOLZ also complements the wider House of Valerie aesthetic through its focus on creativity and craftsmanship. The collections encourage individuality and confidence whilst remaining comfortable and wearable in everyday life.

As a leading UK and European stockist of RUNDHOLZ, House of Valerie offers a carefully curated selection across all three collections, bringing together the full expression of the brand in one place.
