HANNOH WESSEL
Learn More About HANNOH WESSEL
In an industry built around constant change, HANNOH WESSEL has quietly remained committed to something altogether more enduring.
Working between Germany and Italy, Hanno Wessel designs with longevity in mind. Rather than producing clothing to satisfy a season, he creates pieces intended to become permanent fixtures within a wardrobe. It is an approach rooted in the principles of slow fashion, where thoughtful design, exceptional natural fabrics and responsible production take precedence over trends and excess.
Each collection reflects this philosophy. Relaxed tailoring, architectural silhouettes and beautifully weighted linens, cottons and wool blends create clothing that feels effortless yet considered. Nothing shouts for attention, yet every detail has been carefully resolved, from the proportions of a jacket to the finish of a seam. The result is clothing that grows more familiar and more valued with every wear.

Sustainability is not treated as a marketing message but as a natural consequence of the way the brand works. Many fabrics are produced in small quantities by specialist Italian mills, collections are intentionally concise, and every decision is made with longevity in mind. Rather than encouraging constant replacement, HANNOH WESSEL designs clothing that remains relevant year after year.
At House of Valerie, this philosophy resonates deeply with our own. We curate the collection to help women build wardrobes rather than replace them, choosing versatile pieces that move effortlessly through everyday life. A softly structured jacket, a beautifully cut linen dress or an oversized coat should never feel reserved for a particular moment; they should become the pieces you instinctively reach for, season after season.
There is a quiet confidence to HANNOH WESSEL. The collections never demand attention, but they earn admiration through their craftsmanship, honesty and enduring relevance. They are clothes designed to be lived in, becoming more personal and more beautiful with time.
From Haute Couture To H+HANNOH WESSEL
Hanno Wessel's story begins in Germany, though much of his creative education took place in Paris.
After studying at the prestigious École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, he spent three years working in Haute Couture, learning the level of precision and craftsmanship that sits at the highest end of fashion. It is a background that continues to influence the collections today, though perhaps not in the way you might expect.
When he launched his own label in 1994, the response was immediate. Buyers and international press quickly recognised something special in the collections, leading to partnerships with some of the most respected fashion retailers in Paris and New York. Over the years, the brand continued to grow, earning recognition including the Paris Capital of Creation award in 2006.

A new chapter began in 2015 with the creation of H+HANNOH WESSEL, produced entirely in Italy through experienced luxury manufacturers who shared the designer's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Italy has since become as important to the brand as Paris, combining two countries with some of the richest fashion traditions in Europe.
At House of Valerie, we love that the collection carries influences from all three places. There is German precision, Parisian creativity, and Italian craftsmanship woven throughout every season.
Fashion With A Human Touch
What makes HANNOH WESSEL so compelling is the balance between technical precision and genuine ease.
Having trained in Parisian couture, Hanno Wessel understands structure better than most. Yet instead of using that knowledge to create clothing that feels formal or restrictive, he uses it to make garments that feel effortless. The expertise is there, but it never overwhelms the wearer.
Every seam, dart and proportion has a purpose, allowing jackets to sit naturally on the shoulders, dresses to fall beautifully without clinging, and coats to feel protective rather than heavy. The result is clothing that is carefully engineered yet never appears overworked.
There is an unmistakable humanity to the collections. They are designed around real women and real lives, recognising that comfort, movement and longevity are just as important as silhouette. Rather than asking the wearer to adapt to the clothes, the clothes adapt to the wearer, becoming softer and more familiar over time.
At House of Valerie, this philosophy aligns closely with our own approach to dressing. We believe exceptional clothing should support everyday life, not interrupt it. HANNOH WESSEL pieces have a rare ability to feel polished without feeling precious, making them as appropriate for a morning meeting as they are for an evening out.
Perhaps that is why the brand inspires such loyalty. These are not garments that demand attention or rely on fleeting trends. Instead, they quietly become the pieces women reach for time and time again.
Why The Details Matter
With HANNOH WESSEL, the smallest details are often the reason a garment becomes a heirloom.
Every decision is deliberate, from the weight of a linen cloth and the softness of a washed wool to the placement of a pocket or the shape of a collar. Even something as simple as the signature red stitching that secures a button is intentional. It is a subtle hallmark of the brand's craftsmanship and an indication that every element has been considered.

These are not decorative flourishes; they are thoughtful refinements that improve the way a piece looks, feels and functions. The same care extends beyond the clothing itself. Scarves, bags and leather accessories are designed with the same quiet restraint, complementing the collection rather than competing with it.
At House of Valerie, we believe these details are what give the collection its lasting appeal. They may not be the first things you notice, but they are often the reason you continue reaching for the same pieces, year after year.
HANNOH WESSEL at House of Valerie
There are designers whose work feels tied to a particular season, and there are those whose collections remain relevant long after the trends have passed. HANNOH WESSEL belongs firmly to the latter.
At House of Valerie, we believe the best wardrobes are built slowly, through carefully chosen pieces that become more valuable with every wear. That philosophy sits at the heart of everything Hanno Wessel creates. His collections are designed not to be replaced, but to be lived in, repaired, loved and returned to year after year.
It is this quiet longevity that continues to draw us back each season. The craftsmanship is exceptional, the materials speak for themselves, and every garment reflects a belief that clothing should support the life you live, rather than dictate it.
If you are looking to invest in pieces that will become lasting companions rather than passing purchases, HANNOH WESSEL is a designer well worth discovering.
