DOM GOOR

Learn More About DOM GOOR

Some brands are defined by a single speciality. For DOM GOOR, that speciality is outerwear.

For decades, the label has focused on creating coats, jackets and gilets that place exceptional materials at the centre of every design. Luxurious curly Mongolian lamb, beautifully soft shearling, supple leather and rich natural wools are selected not simply for their appearance, but for the warmth, texture and longevity they bring to each piece. Every collection celebrates the character of these materials, allowing them to speak for themselves.

At House of Valerie, this commitment to craftsmanship is exactly what draws us to the brand. DOM GOOR understands that great outerwear is an investment, becoming the piece you instinctively reach for every winter. The silhouettes are timeless, the construction is meticulous and the quality is evident from the very first wear.

Whether it's a statement curly Mongolian lamb coat, a beautifully cut shearling jacket or a lightweight gilet designed for layering, each piece balances practicality with understated luxury. These are garments that do far more than provide warmth, they add texture, depth and character to a wardrobe while remaining effortlessly wearable season after season.

It Started With One Jacket

DOM GOOR's story began in 1993 when a 21-year-old student bought a suede jacket from Petticoat Lane Market in East London.

The reaction was immediate. Friends and fellow students wanted one too, and what started as a handful of orders quickly became a growing business. Rather than stopping there, Dom reinvested everything, gradually expanding from selling jackets to refining designs and creating collections of his own.

Within a year, he had purchased the factory supplying those original jackets and began producing garments from the ground up. It was an ambitious move, though one that laid the foundations for everything that followed.

As the brand grew, so did its reputation. Collections appeared in respected boutiques and department stores, including Harvey Nichols, whilst the distinctive approach to shearling developed a loyal following of its own.

At House of Valerie, we love stories like this because they remind us that some of the most successful brands begin with instinct, determination, and a genuine passion for what they create.

The Shearling Specialist

Whilst fashion trends have come and gone, DOM GOOR has remained focused on what it does best.

Over the years, the brand has become synonymous with shearling, transforming one of fashion's most traditional materials into something that feels remarkably modern. Jackets, coats, scarves, and accessories are designed to offer warmth and practicality whilst retaining an unmistakable sense of elegance.

What makes the collections particularly distinctive is the way they balance structure with softness. The pieces feel luxurious, though never fragile. They are designed to be worn daily rather than saved for special occasions, becoming more comfortable and more individual over time.

At House of Valerie, we often find that customers are drawn to DOM GOOR because of this balance. The garments make an impression immediately, though their real appeal emerges through years of wear.

There is a confidence to the collections that comes from specialising in one thing and doing it exceptionally well.

One Coat, One Craftsman

Each coat begins with Dom personally selecting and matching the materials before they are hand cut and passed to a single master craftsman within the London workshop. From that point onwards, one person takes responsibility for creating the garment from start to finish.

In an industry increasingly driven by speed and volume, this approach feels almost extraordinary.

At House of Valerie, this is one of the aspects we admire most about the brand. Every piece carries a level of care that can only come from genuine craftsmanship. Nothing feels rushed or mass produced. Instead, the garments reflect the experience, skill, and attention of the people who create them.

This philosophy extends throughout the collection. Exclusive Toscana shearling, limited production runs, and carefully sourced materials all contribute to the character of the finished pieces.

DOM GOOR at House of Valerie

What we love most about DOM GOOR is its unwavering focus.

The brand has never attempted to be everything to everyone. Instead, it has spent decades refining its craft, creating some of the most gorgeous shearling outerwear available today.

Within the wider House of Valerie edit, DOM GOOR brings something genuinely distinctive. The collections offer warmth, craftsmanship, and longevity in equal measure, appealing to women who value quality over novelty and timeless design over passing trends.

There is also something reassuring about knowing exactly where a garment comes from and who made it. In a world of anonymous production, DOM GOOR remains proudly rooted in London, family-run, and deeply connected to the people behind every piece.

For us, that makes the collection feel all the more special.
