The Denim Edit

Denim has always held a place in the vocabulary of everyday dressing, but this season it steps forward with new intention. As AW25 unfolds, silhouettes sharpen, washes deepen, and texture becomes a storytelling tool.

From the sculptural shapes of RUNDHOLZ to the soft tailoring of MUNTHE and the directional cuts of PLU, denim is presented not as a basic, but as a refined pillar of ladies' designerwear. This is denim elevated: washed, reimagined and crafted for the woman who values structure, comfort and a quiet sense of individuality.

Directional Dark Denim

Dark denim takes on a new character this season, moving away from traditional blues and towards richer, more atmospheric tones. RUNDHOLZ and PLU lead the way with sculptural silhouettes, washed blacks and deep brown undertones that bring a grunge-laced elegance to AW25.

The RUNDHOLZ MAINLINE jacket in Turf Wash, a soft distressed denim, shows how the brand turns familiar shapes into something unexpected. Designed with a fitted silhouette, it features chest pockets and side pockets, each elevated with sculptural three-dimensional detailing that adds shadow and structure. The Turf Wash finish brings a worn-in softness that pairs beautifully with the sharper edges of black knitwear or long tailored shirts. In Black Gloss, the same jacket shifts into a more polished mood, offering a slick appearance that feels incredibly modern. It reads well over fitted trousers or the brand’s own drop-crotch shapes, tightening the balance between minimalism and statement.

To complement the jacket, the oversized RUNDHOLZ MAINLINE denim trouser introduces shape through a drop-crotch cut and wide leg. Front pleats create fluidity, giving the fabric movement without losing its architectural presence. These trousers look most powerful styled with slim knits or tucked-in tops, allowing the volume to sit as the focal point. They also have enough softness to work with chunky boots, preserving the grunge-inspired edge of the collection.

For a shorter silhouette, the cropped kick-flare trouser brings something different. Still rooted in the brand’s sculptural aesthetic, it offers a lighter, more playful take on denim. With the cropped hem and flared shape, this piece works well with platform shoes or high boots, creating a clean break at the ankle while maintaining a directional line.

The stretch-fit RUNDHOLZ MAINLINE jacket offers a second iteration on sculptural denim. With two exaggerated front-facing pockets and the same signature three-dimensional shaping, it sits comfortably at the intersection of utility and art. The button front keeps it wearable, while the distressed finish softens the silhouette. Style it over relaxed trousers or layered knitwear for a look that feels both bold and effortless.

A fitted denim skirt completes the dark denim story from RUNDHOLZ MAINLINE. With classic shaping and a subtle vent at the reverse, it introduces femininity into a collection grounded in structure. Turf Wash brings textural interest, while Black Gloss reads sharper and more polished. The skirt styles beautifully with oversized knits or fitted jackets, creating contrast in both proportion and mood.

PLU’s interpretation of dark denim offers a different personality. Their relaxed medium-weight jacket in distressed fabric has a swingy shape that feels soft and loose, making it ideal for everyday layering. The tie detail at the reverse can be left to hang for an unfinished, artistic feel or tied into a bow for a more sculpted finish. It's washed look softens structured trousers and sits well with wide-leg silhouettes.

PLU’s cropped trouser in distressed denim introduces another playful twist to AW25. A fixed waistband and signature upside-down design detail create a contemporary silhouette with charm. The cropped length opens styling possibilities with everything from clean trainers to statement boots.

The PLU barrel trouser, washed and ruched, lean into relaxed volume. The pleated detail at the reverse hems adds unexpected refinement, lifting what could have been a simple shape into something sculptural. This pair softens oversized jackets or works well as the foundation for monochrome dressing.

Finally, PLU’s washed denim peplum jacket brings a surprising femininity to the darker palette. With a mesh skirted inner, two-way zip and distressed edges, it offers movement and texture while maintaining structure through the fitted bodice. This is a strong transitional piece, one that effortlessly dresses between casual and refined.

Dip-Dyed Denim

For AW25, dip-dyed denim becomes a canvas for colour experimentation. RUNDHOLZ DIP leans into vintage postcard hues, translating washed blues, soft greens and muted reds into garments that feel artistic yet wearable.

The fitted RUNDHOLZ DIP jacket, crafted from distressed cotton, places leather lace-up ties along the sleeves for a distinctive edge. Sculptural pockets and a neat collar ground the design, while the washed vintage finish gives it a softness that pairs well with both monochrome and colour. Whether in Crab Light, Lagoon Light or Light Pine, the jacket offers a fresh way to wear colour without overwhelming the silhouette.

RUNDHOLZ DIP’s wide-leg trouser brings lightness to denim while maintaining strong shape. Oversized pockets with folded detailing introduce texture, creating depth that draws the eye without overpowering the look. Styled with simple knits or cropped jackets, these trousers are a statement piece perfect for pairing with multiple looks.

In another iteration, the DIP drop-crotch trouser uses stretch-fit cotton to sculpt movement. The asymmetric pocket with a leather tie cord adds a distinctive design feature, reinforcing the brand’s artistic hand. These trousers look particularly strong with fitted tops or longline coats, creating tension between volume and precision.

The cropped denim jacket from RUNDHOLZ DIP pairs beautifully with these trousers. Crafted in Lagoon Light or Flamingo Light, it sits neatly on the body with sculptural pocket detailing and lace-up sleeves. This piece styles well with mid-rise trousers or full skirts, offering balance through proportion.

The DIP denim skirt reimagines the classic shape through blended tones of two-tone denim. With folded pockets and classic styling, it introduces versatility into the dip-dyed story. Wear it with knitwear for a relaxed weekend look or pair it with a fitted jacket for a more defined silhouette.

Finally, the DIP denim trouser completes the saturated palette. Drop-crotch shaping and hand-finished details define the design, and the washed vintage finish ensures softness against the skin. This piece particularly suits monochrome styling, letting the colour take centre stage.

A Take on Classic Denim

For those who prefer denim at its most classic, MUNTHE offers silhouettes built on ease and clean lines. These pieces carry a softer energy, rooted in wearability without losing sophistication.

The MUNTHE Lecube trouser provides a wide, straight cut in organic cotton with distressed hems that feel contemporary without leaning too far into grunge. Its simple shape makes it easy to style with oversized shirts, cashmere knits or fitted tops. The MUNTHE leather patch at the reverse adds a subtle branded element without interrupting the clean design.

The MUNTHE Luxa blouse, crafted in distressed denim, offers a relaxed fit that pairs perfectly with both wide-leg and slim trousers. The three-quarter popper fastening lends ease, while the small collar and front pockets introduce subtle structure. Light Blue feels fresh and versatile for AW25, ideal for layering under coats or wearing on its own for a more casual look.

The MUNTHE Lodwar trouser brings a gentle flare to classic denim. The pressed creases down the leg introduce polish, while the front pockets with button closures add personality. This style works beautifully with simple knitwear, structured blazers or soft tailoring, proving how denim can also sit comfortably in a refined wardrobe.

The MUNTHE Obey trouser offers a loose, wide-leg shape with a drawstring tie that allows the wearer to define the waist. Grey offers a cool neutrality, ideal for monochrome layering, while Indigo feels rich and classic. This pair works well with tucked-in knitwear or cropped jackets, playing with proportion in a subtle way.

Finally, the MUNTHE Rosh trouser takes a high-waisted, wide-leg shape and elevates it with a double waistband and contrasting stitching. Blue gives a fresh take on classic denim, while Kit introduces a softer alternative. Both options pair beautifully with tailored coats or oversized jumpers, creating a silhouette that feels both effortless and considered.
