SANCTAMUERTE AW26 & TEXTURE & TRANSFORMATION
For Autumn/Winter ’26, SANCTAMUERTE takes familiar fabrics and makes them feel entirely different.
Denim is hand-sprayed until its surface takes on a worn, almost burnished appearance. Wool is distressed and dyed into cloudy, irregular tones. Knitwear becomes long, fluid and reversible, while oversized coats exaggerate proportion without losing their ease.
There is a rawness but it never feels unfinished. Instead, the collection is built around the beauty of process, colour that isn't perfectly uniform, texture that changes across the surface and silhouettes that deliberately move away from the body.
The result is relaxed, directional and incredibly tactile: clothes that become more interesting the closer you look.
HAND-SPRAYED DENIM
Denim is one of the strongest stories in SANCTAMUERTE AW26, but there is very little that's conventional about it.
The season's hand-sprayed finish transforms the fabric, layering earthy brown over the darker denim beneath and allowing variations in tone and texture to remain visible. Rather than a clean, uniform wash, the surface has depth, almost as though it has developed gradually through wear.
The Stone Washed Denim Cropped Blazer brings structure to that finish, while the Stone Washed Denim Banana Leg Trouser changes the proportion below. Worn together, the shorter jacket and fuller trouser create a strong head-to-toe silhouette without needing anything else to compete with it.
But we'd happily split them apart too. The blazer gives a simple black trouser or dress more texture, while the banana-leg trouser needs little more than a pared-back top and substantial shoe.
It's denim, but not really as we know it.
DISTRESSED, DYED WOOL
That same fascination with surface continues through the collection's distressed dyed wool.
Charcoal, black and softened grey bleed into one another rather than sitting as solid blocks of colour, creating an almost clouded effect across the fabric. The irregularity is what makes it beautiful, no sharp print, just layers of tone and texture.
The Textured High Neckline Top and coordinating wide-leg trouser show how effective the finish becomes when worn head to toe. The silhouette remains simple and relaxed, allowing the fabric itself to become the focus.
There is something particularly good about styling these pieces together. From a distance it reads almost as one continuous column of texture; up close, the variations within the dye become much more apparent.
And because the palette is so restrained, it's an easy story to break apart and layer with the rest of the collection.
THE POWER OF PROPORTION
Proportion has always been one of the easiest ways to make simple clothes feel more directional.
Trousers become wider or curve through a banana leg. Knitwear stretches into longer lines. Jackets are cropped against fuller shapes below, while outerwear is deliberately oversized.
It means the interest doesn't have to come from embellishment.
Take a wide trouser, add a relaxed high-neck top and finish with an oversized coat. The individual pieces are relatively simple; it's the relationship between their lengths and volumes that changes the outfit.

OVERSIZED COATS & JACKETS
There is nothing tentative about the coats this season. The Oversized Wool Blend Coat uses scale to make its statement, creating a generous outer layer that works naturally over the wider and more fluid silhouettes beneath.
Then the Wool Blend Coat with Degradé Stole introduces another element entirely. The additional stole brings softness and movement to the structure of the coat, allowing it to be styled differently depending on how it is wrapped and layered.
We'd lean into the volume rather than trying to balance it with something overly fitted. Let an oversized coat sit over a wide trouser or long knit and allow the proportions to build.
SANCTAMUERTE AW26 AT HOUSE OF VALERIE
At first glance, the palette is restrained and the silhouettes relatively simple. Look closer and everything is happening in the details: irregular dye, hand-treated denim, exaggerated proportions, reversible knitwear and layers designed to move together.
These aren't pieces that need complicated styling. Their character is already built into the fabric.
